This beautiful 1930s bungalow in Epsom called for a luxurious modernization befitting of its high-end address. The exterior envelope was relatively simple, and the interior spaces were compact, without any special detailing.
To reinvent the home, a midcentury style was incorporated. An interplay between rich walnut cabinetry in the kitchen and ensuite, against rimu timber floors was a delicate balancing act. Editing the floors to a dark sepia tone has married the spaces beautifully and anchored a feeling of sophistication. Sentimental family art has been reframed and peppered throughout the home. New artworks were also sourced by Wolfe to reflect continuity with a midcentury theme.
Collaboration with this client began in 2017 – engaging an interior designer was a unique experience. For Wolfe, building trust and creating an enrichening design journey for the client, was just as important as a successful outcome.
